What an amazing Achievement!

As the cost-of-living crisis hits even harder and golfers have all on finding their golf club membership fees, the tonic that Rory McIlroy delivered on Sunday was nothing short of spectacular and much needed!

I settled in just in time to see Justin Rose tee off as I had an inkling, he would be the man to post a score.  With Justin’s recent form, his support of women’s golf and that I used to go out with his long-term caddie “Fooch”, I always want to see them do well.

Of course, my main wish though, like many of us, was for Rory to achieve his Career Grand Slam.  After the roller-coaster of a ride, watching through my fingers and not being able to sit still, thinking he had thrown it away again, the unbelievable was attained.  Well done Rory!

When I think back to the younger Rory, I wasn’t really a fan but hearing him now in interviews, wow has he done some growing up and by his own admission, mentioning his own self reflection over recent years, I couldn’t be more warmed by his honesty, something I am a big fan of and now a big fan of Rory.

I do feel for Justin though at 44, finishing second at The Open and The Masters, being so close must really hurt. However, I am sure he’ll be taking the positives out of both performances, knowing he has the game, professionalism and class to clinch another major title in the future and I look forward to watching him achieve that.
