Goodbye 2025, Happy New 2026!

Reflecting on my first year in 2025 of the Simpson Series, my first thought is one of pride.  It was a tough year with little time for myself, a second job, aging parents and plenty of new skills to learn along the way…but meeting golfers at events and seeing them experience new courses for the first time or groups enjoying a regular trip together, to have a hand in their positive experiences and hear their golfing trials and tribulations has been extremely enjoyable for me and the very reason I started the Simpson Series.

When I left the NCG Top 100s Tour in April 2024, after 6 years of running the tour, we had formed a community, lovely people that loved their golf were putting their trust in me to find them new and exciting golfing experiences.  I had helped them try new courses, recommended places to stay, sorted out their WHS issues, even recommended nights out and the welcoming community spirit I set out to achieve, blossomed and was truly a pleasure to be around.  After six months working for a Children’s charity, I quickly realised I missed being around golf and golfers, the community, the banter and the positivity that I felt when I had organised a great day out that everyone had enjoyed!  So, the Simpson Series was born and with your help, I hope to build on my first year and provide the same welcoming, relaxed, inclusive and competitive community at my own Simpson Series events in 2026!

2026 is here already and flying! Sadly, my father has been very ill and in hospital over Christmas and the New Year, so my parents and I haven’t enjoyed any festivities. Instead, it has been a very tough time in the hands of an extremely stressed NHS.  Although we are very pleased to now have him home and be able to aid in his recovery. Life can get in the way of our best laid plans sometimes and this has unfortunately delayed me a little from finalising my 2026 schedule.  My parents always devoted so much time to me, my golf career a prime example, so please accept my apologies for the delay but my family needed me.

I am really looking forward to this new season, I have 12 individual events booked at Top 100 courses so far, with a few more waiting TBC. I have paired the events together for proximity, should you wish to enjoy an overnight trip away with friends, but all are individual events, so please feel free to play in 1 or as many as you wish.  All events are proving popular, but Silloth and Seascale on the Cumbrian coastline are currently the front runners.

We will start the Simpson Series in May this year on the spectacular Northumbrian Coastline.  Goswick Links is one of 15 courses selected by the R&A as a regional qualifying venue for the Open Championship. An authentic natural links with amazing turf, true greens and panoramic views, to be fully appreciated, this is a course that must be experienced! Not far from Goswick Links and just above Alnwick is Dunstanburgh Castle golf course.  Wrapping itself around Embleton Bay (previously voted the best stretch of coastline in Britain) and in the shadow of Dunstanburgh Castle, this is a true links test that will live long in the memory, not only for the great value price! What a trip to start the year with.

Also in May, a visit to two of the best courses in South Wales and one of my absolute favourites.  Pennard and Machynys Peninsular.  May is a great month to visit Pennard, “the links in the sky”, warm enough to play in a t shirt and early enough not be baked off by a dry summer.  Excellent links turf and unspoilt beauty in every direction, I can’t wait!  Machynys hosted the LET European Open a few times when I was playing professionally and what an enjoyable course it is to play, accuracy and positioning key, but the fine, true surfaces will give you ample opportunity to score well. Fond memories here and one of my favourites.

Seascale and Silloth on the Cumbrian coastline are proving very popular in June and are already 50% full.  These two courses ooze quality and character in abundance, Seascale is a fine links test and offers great value for money and Silloth further north along the coastline absolutely blew me away last year.  I hadn’t visited for some time but wow, how I was reminded of what a natural beauty this is.  Immaculately presented with natural sand dunes and so much character. A must play at this price and worth the travel to get there.

I’m a Yorkshire girl, so wanting to share with you hidden gems within Yorkshire is a no brainer.  Crosland Heath offers a fun heathland challenge with panoramic views, stunning par 3’s and great value for money.  Halifax Ogden is also great value for money and would give you a memorable moorland test on a July day, nestled beneath the Pennine hills, in beautiful rural Yorkshire, just think Happy Valley! At £94 for both courses with food afterwards, WHS competition and prizes included, this is great value golf and a great opportunity to explore more of Yorkshire.

Coxmoor and Sherwood Forest, both fine heathland courses are just 10 mins apart and situated close to the M1 in Nottinghamshire.  Coxmoor is home to DP Tour Player & Ryder Cup Player Oliver Wilson, who has been involved in course re developments in what is an exciting time for the club.  Sherwood Forest is one of the finest heathland courses in Great Britain and a great course to test your golfing ability.  Play well here and your game is in great shape.  Visiting in early September this heathland will be stunning, framing the holes perfectly for you.

Also in September, Northamptonshire County is a firm favourite with many visitors, an Open Qualifying venue, this traditional heathland course with undulating woodland, heather and fine pine woods, makes for a memorable and enjoyable visit. Luffenham Heath is situated just northeast of Northamptonshire County, adored by many as a true heathland classic also a regional qualifying venue for the Open Championship.  The playing experience is both challenging and fair in equal measure, probably why it is so popular with so many visitors.

I am still exploring events further South and in Scotland, which are ongoing since before Christmas so hopefully I will add these to the list, if too late for this year now, possibly for 2027.  I hope you have enjoyed my belated New Year blog and run through of the courses the Simpson Series will visit this year.  I look forward to hosting you at an event soon!

All the best for 2026!

Georgina
